Washington Butler is a Puyallup native who was fascinated by the arts at a very young age. She was a stage performer as well as in the schools. After that, she relocated in Los Angeles and studied theatre at the University of Southern California. For a year and an half, she portrayed Belle the Princess in Beauty and the Beast. Her decision to leave college was to locate an agent to represent her talents who would let her audition for film and TV. Butler guest-starred on the television show CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.She was cast in the feature film A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser and in the 2008 Syfy TV film of horror Flu Bird Horror. She also played a part in the web-series Luke 11:17. It was directed by Don Stark. Butler was a character in the web series I Love Vampires and a recurring one on Luke 11:17. She won the title for I Spit on Your Grave which was a remake of the 1978 film of the same title. Although initially put off by the film's nudity and violence The film's compelling character story and feminist inclination helped convince her to play the role.Butler was in the film as Jennifer Hills a novelist who was brutally gang-raped when living in a cabin the woods. Her character is then determined to get revenge on her rapists. Steven R. Monroe helmed The film which came out on October 8, 2010. Butler began the filming of The Stranger Within (a psychological thriller) in Mallorca Spain together with Estella Ward and William Baldwin back in November 2011. The film was shot in addition to New York City and Copenhagen, the film was scheduled for shooting in Copenhagen Denmark. She also became part of the crew for Treachery in which she starred Michael Biehn. The independent feature film started filming in Los Angeles in early 2012. Butler starred in the 2013 horror film The Demented with Michael Welch as well as Kayla Ewell.

Ferland has, on top of being nominated for an Emmy nomination, has also won throughout her career, has received nearly a half dozen other awards. This includes a Young Artist Award and a CAMIE Award.
